Chanticleer comes to Ireland
Pipeworks and Cois Cladaigh are delighted to announce a forthcoming tour to Ireland by the extraordinarily talented US male voice choir, Chanticleer. Based in San Francisco, Chanticleer is known around the world as "an orchestra of voices" for the seamless blend of its twelve male voices, ranging from soprano to bass and its original interpretations of vocal literature, from Renaissance to jazz and from gospel to venturesome new music. This will be Chanticleer's first visit to Ireland.
As part of this Grammy Award-winning ensemble's 31st season, Chanticleer will perform three concerts in July 2009 in Ireland:
Saturday 4 July at 8pm St Nicholas Collegiate Church, Galway
Sunday 5 July at 8pm St Mary's Pro-Cathedral, Dublin
Monday 6 July at 7.30pm Wexford Opera House

Pipeworks and Cois Cladaigh will present New York Polyphony in two concerts in Galway and Dublin in November 2008. New York Polyphony is one of the most exciting and dynamic vocal ensembles of a new generation and their November visit offers Irish audiences the opportunity to experience their unique and acclaimed artistry.
The programme New York Polyphony will sing in both Galway and Dublin encompasses more than 600 years and a truly diverse and exhilarating range of styles. Polyphony from the fifteenth century sits alongside works recently commissioned by the ensemble. This extraordinary blend of old and new is exemplified in the music of Andrew Smith, a rising star in the choral firmament whose music is undeniably modern whilst rooted in the ancient traditions of chant and polyphony. Three of his works are included in the programme, alongside more familiar pieces by Byrd (the much-loved Ave verum corpus), Cornysh and Poulenc (Quatre petites prieres de Francis d’Asisse). All are woven together in a skilful manner, and New York Polyphony’s concerts in Galway and Dublin promise a perfectly balanced yet daring mix of genres delivered by a group at the forefront of the international choral scene.
The group was founded in 2006 and comprises four male singers, each with a flourishing career as a singer in his own right, and who together form a consort fusing elegant vocalism with expert ensemble singing. New York Polyphony gives dynamic, historically-informed performances in a range of styles, from the simplicity of plainchant to the dense chromaticism of contemporary works; its sound is strong, unified and distinct, and critics across the globe have been glowing in their praise.
These concerts are not to be missed by anyone with a passion for the vocal and choral arts, for early and contemporary music, and for the very special experience afforded by four superb musicians singing together in scintillating euphony.

26 April 2008 - Pipeworks Organ Marathon Day
Dublin, Christ Church Cathedral
| 10am - 4pm |
Organ Marathon |
| 5 pm |
Choral Evensong with Christ Church Cathedral Choir |
| 6 pm | Simon Harden - Organ Recital |
Saturday 26 April 2008 in Christ Church Cathedral promises to be a fun day whether you're a music lover, organist or just want to do something different on a Saturday.
The Organ Marathon raises much needed funds for the Pipeworks festival. This year we have set ourselves a target of €8,000 to be raised at the marathon. So with 20 slots for playing from 10am to 4pm and that works out at an average of €400 per slot! The Marathon day is much more than fund raising - it's about socialising, enjoying the music and ambience of Christ Church and of course Evensong will be sung at 5.15pm by the cathedral choir - not to be missed.
This year we have also invited young Irish organist, Simon Harden, the 2007 prize winner of the coveted Schnitger organ prize to give a short organ recital at 6pm to round off the day. What could be more fitting. We hope that teas and coffees will be available in the crypt all day. Come along, enjoy, support and hear all about the festival.
If you would like to play the Christ Church Cathedral Organ on the day, please send an email to adminpipeworks@gmail.com to book your place in the schedule. Then download and print your sponsorship card and start fundraising!!!
Click here for the Pipeworks Organ Marathon Day 2008 poster. Please feel free to use the poster to tell your family, friends and colleagues.
